It may be April Fool’s Day, but what I heard the other day is no joke. I actually heard on NPR that there is a movement to divide the state of Florida into two states—North Florida and South Florida. The rationale according to the broadcast is while South Florida generates more than 60% of Florida’s revenue; the state Capitol ignores key issues that impact South Florida like global warming, rising sea levels, etc.
If you check out my website www.elainemarieartist.com, you’ll note that I make allusions to the three states of minds that define Florida. I thought diversity was what makes this Nation great. But lately that is what seems to divide us and not define us.
