You would think with all the tourists, retirees and new comers that Florida would rank as a pedestrian friendly state. I just looked a list of 50 most pedestrian friendly cities and not one of them is in Florida. Miami is trying to change that.
The Wynwood Improvement District in Miami is studying way to promote pedestrian focused streets in the Wynwood Arts District. The goal is transform the area into a walkable, mixed use and mixed income neighborhood and to preserve the artistic character by requiring art or glass treatments on new developments, according to Miami Times.
