Who is like unto the LORD our God, who dwelleth on high, Who humbleth Himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth! Psalm 113

I was reading the Lenten Devotion about Lazarus’ sister Mary anointing the feet of Jesus with expensive perfume and wiping His feet with her hair. Her humility was contrasted by Judas’ greed and arrogance. Judas thought he knew everything. That he had a better plan than Jesus. How often do I pretend that I am humble like Mary when actually my heart is proud and arrogant like Judas? Often I think I know more than God about my life than He does and make plans without including Him.

Yet God is so humble and patience with me. The other day I was working on the Lesson Plan for the Bass Museum’s Arts and Literacy class I am teaching. I came up with a great idea but could figure no way to implement it. Finally, I decided that perhaps God had a better way. When I told my grandson he asked, “Can’t you add your idea to God’s” “No, my ideas don’t count!” A few days later at the library and Wal-Mart I found everything I needed to implement the idea! It was then that I realized it really wasn’t my idea. God had quietly given me the nudge then humbly put everything in place so that I could discover His will. Oh, the humility and patience of a loving God…
